چکیده

The Ediacaran−Cambrian boundary strata in the Great Basin of southwestern United States record biological, geochemical, and tectonic change during transformative interval Earth history which metazoans diversified. Here, we integrate new compiled chemostratigraphic, paleontological, sedimentological, stratigraphic data sets from Death Valley region, White-Inyo Ranges, Esmeralda County Nevada California evaluate these within a regional geologic framework. A large negative carbon isotope (δ13C) excursion—also known as Basal Cambrian Excursion, or BACE—is regionally reproducible, despite lateral changes sedimentary facies dolomitization across ∼250 km, consistent with primary marine origin for this perturbation. Across southern Basin, Ediacaran body fossils are preserved variety taphonomic modes, including cast mold preservation, two-dimensional compressional three-dimensional pyritization, calcification. framework occurrences is used to consider relationships among modes fossil preservation paleoenvironmental settings basin. In Ediacaran-type occur below nadir BACE, while Cambrian-type trace above. Sedimentological features that include giant ooids, stromatolites, textured organic surfaces widespread abundant records biotic turnover coincide basaltic volcanism BACE. We hypothesize prevalence sedimentological features, disappearance some clades were caused by environmental perturbation at Ediacaran-Cambrian boundary.

Health System Reform in the United States

In 2010, the United States adopted its first-ever comprehensive set of health system reforms in the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Implementation of the law, though politically contentious and controversial, has now reached a stage where reversal of most elements of the law is no longer feasible. The controversial portions of the law that expand affordable health insurance coverage to most U.S. cit...

Amulti-proxy paleolimnological reconstruction of Holocene climate conditions in the Great Basin, United States

a r t i c l e i n f o A sediment core spanning ∼ 7000 cal yr BP recovered from Stella Lake, a small sub-alpine lake located in Great Basin National Park, Nevada, was analyzed for subfossil chironomids (non-biting midges), diatoms, and organic content (estimated by loss-on-ignition (LOI)). Subfossil chironomid analysis indicates that Stella Lake was characterized by a warm, middle Holocene, foll...
